Detailed Description
“I can’t stop drawing, no matter how horrible the outcome, and when I’m feeling down, the desire is stronger than ever.” (Beatrix Potter)
Beatrix Potter was a phenomenally talented artist with a strong love for painting and the outdoors. She is the author and illustrator of The Tale of Peter Rabbit, one of the most beloved children’s books (1902).
She drew inspiration from the British countryside, animals, and plants for her drawings and her work as a scientist, farmer, conservationist, and storyteller.
Frances Stanfield, your tutor, will walk you through Beatrix Potter’s creative process and show you how her wacky illustrations come to life on the page. You can draw inspiration from Potter’s perspective on and relationship with the natural world and her surroundings, particularly the Lake District. With the money she earned from her novels, including those she self-published, she purchased extra land to preserve it. As a result of publishers rejecting her books at first, as well as when they disagreed with her demands for specific things like the tiny hands.
You will require:
- One pencil
- Paper
- If you can, prepare some watercolours in advance, preferably a box (pan) of watercolours, since Frances will also demonstrate how to use them to impart life to your paintings.
- A bristle
- A pen or inkbrush in a black, fine point.
- Watercolour paper is one type of thick paper.
- But don’t worry if you don’t have them; a pencil will do.

ARE YOU SEEKING ARRANGEMENTS THROUGH THE EVENTBRITE PHONE APP?
When we contacted Eventbrite, they let us know that their app does not presently allow you to purchase tickets for paid events. We’ve been informed that they are working on a solution, but it’s still quite aggravating. In the interim, we advise that you purchase tickets for our events through a web browser or a desktop computer rather than the iOS app.
If you experience any issues, kindly email londondrawinggroup@gmail.com.
That’s all, then! We are eagerly anticipating having you join us. Love, LDG
